Ganyalʼóotʼ Gwálaa. Flame Dagger.

$3,500.00

Ganyalʼóotʼ Gwálaa. Flame Dagger. But literally: Fire-Face-Tongue Dagger. This copper dagger measures 18-1/4 inches long, 2-1/2 inches wide, and 3/8 inch thick. The handle is wrapped in burnt raw leather cord, and the blade is heat-treated.

Since before any Western contact, the Lingít people have collected and worked with copper. This dagger is inspired by a piece I viewed while going through the archives of the Burke museum for a Bill Holm Center research grant. It’s an honor to carry on these traditions. Gunalchéesh.
